How do you plan a baby shower without breaking the bank? It’s actually not as hard as you might believe.

A lot of people think that doing this on a budget is impossible, but it’s not. Here are seven of the best ways to have a great baby shower without spending a fortune:

Itzbeen Baby Care Timer, Blue
Amazon Price: $16.49
List Price: $24.99

#1) Use your own decorations

If you’ve had a baby shower recently, use those same decorations again. If you do buy the decorations, check the Dollar Store. In many instances they have surprisingly good decorations for cheap prices.

#2) Use you own plates

Don’t buy disposable ones. Since you already own your own plates, you don’t have to pay a dime.

As long as you have a dishwasher, you can easily handle washing all the dishes. You might have to do a few loads, but that’s about it.

And if you don’t have enough plates, just get some cheap paper ones without decorations. Nobody will notice the difference between getting decorated and non-decorated plates. This might seem like nit-picking, but all these little expenses can add up if you aren’t careful.

#3) Buy food in bulk

This is one of the easiest strategies to save money. Often times stores will give you discounts for purchasing a large amount of certain items.

#4) Bake your own cake

This is a lot cheaper than getting a store-bought cake. If you have any baking skills at all, you can pull this off quite easily. Even if you don’t know how, the internet is full of instructions.

#5) Print your own invitations

These can be pricey when you buy them at the store. However, when you use your own computer you can produce them very cheaply. Just use clipart to design them. You need no creative skills at all.

Also, consider using e-invites. Many think you need fancy invitations for baby showers, but this isn’t the case.

#6) Use someone’s house

This is obviously cheaper than renting a party home. This tip is not rocket science, but it’s the biggest money saver of all.

#7) Have everyone pitch in

For instance, have one person bring the decorations, another bring the food, and so on. This way the expenses are evenly distributed.

A baby shower doesn’t have to break the bank. When you look around your house, you will realize you have a lot of the items already. And what you do not have can easily be obtained by printing out invitations on the computer and visiting the Dollar Store.

Implement these seven tips, and you will save money for your next baby shower.  For more saving money tips, you may want to check out: Money Sense Tips

Thanks for these tips Crystal. =) this is just as practical as we could get. It is also important that in order for us to save in certain occasions, it is best that we should be the one to prepare things and do it in advance. This might save us a few dollars for the labor. Nice article.
